The audience in attendance at the auction will be women. The ages of the women range from 20-80. I really need some good ideas for themed baskets that will sell. All the money made from the baskets will go to a children’t charity. We will be doing two different baskets, along with a few other things. We have done a “movie theater” basket before and that worked out well, and we might try it again, but we need some new ideas that will really get some attention. An animal or Zoo themed basket would be cool. As a Zoo employee myself I know that we donate a lot of tickets/memberships for silent auction charities. You can put animal type candles and gifts in the basket along with whatever a local Zoo donates. These type of baskets always seem to go over well because it appeals to families.

I want to put enough on to be able to show that there is variety but not so many that it is overwhelming. Also, are there particular categories that I should put more items in than others?

I am in charge of a dog event for North Dallas Dog Rescue. And instead of just asking for donations I thought a silent auction would be fun and we could give full tax write offs for the people who donate items. But I can’t think of anything good that I could ask from venders to donate.

If you’re asking vendors to donate items you don’t have to think of things, they do. Most vendors will give gift certificates. Restaurants will give dinner for 2, dinner for 4. Service companies can give gift certs for $ $ $ off their services. $ 50 off of carpet cleaning, $ 25 off of dry cleaning. Free oil change..

You can post there for free and people can email or call you.
It is easier, you can ship or have pickup. You can also find people that want you item, so it is easier.
You can post almost any kind of junk there and they’ll take it.
